Award-winning photographer, Carolyn Wells,
Carolyn Bentley Wells brings a unique background to wedding photojournalism – one of scientific inquiry and creative exploration. In college, she focused her studies on animal intelligence and biochemistry - traveling across the globe to central Africa’s rainforests to study parrots in their natural habitat. She brings that inquisitive nature and ability to see beauty, truth, and essence to a new level – documenting decisive moments from behind the lens. Carolyn’s beginnings in photography started at a young age when given a camera prior to her soccer team’s trip to Scandinavia – her innate ability for capturing the people and places around her was soon discovered. She developed this ability further in a photojournalism class shooting for the school yearbook, and later studying photojournalists’ styles in college. Yet, it wasn't until planning her own wedding, when she saw the inspiring work of other contemporary wedding and portrait photographers, that she realized that her passion for documentary photography could result in a extremely fulfilling career which meshed with her personality. In her work, she strives to capture the simple, everyday moments and expressions which make the most beautiful art - the subtle, intimate moments between people. Carolyn’s down-to-earth, relaxed demeanor will help keep you at ease on your wedding day or photo session, which means looking and feeling your absolute best. With her quiet observations, she unobtrusively captures and conveys the heart of the moment in each image she produces; intuitively shooting those definitive moments of interaction. Carolyn has been published locally and nationally in newspapers, magazines, brochures, and websites. She has had the honor to photograph celebrities as well as everyday people with big hearts. Carolyn is a member of Wedding Photojournalist Association and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.
